Global travel authority Lonely Planet has today announced their Best in Travel 2022, three lists encompassing the world’s hottest countries, cities and regions, and have included the Scenic Rim as number eight in the top regions to visit in 2022.
Mayor Greg Christensen said he’s proud to share this award with everyone who has ever called the Scenic Rim home, whether it’s been for a weekend or a lifetime.
“We’ve been recognised for reasons that matter most — our unique experiences, spectacular landscapes, award-winning produce, commitment to low-impact and sustainable travel, and authentic customer service.”
“While the official title is Best in Travel, this award isn’t only for our tourism industry. Lonely Planet also highlighted the authenticity and warmth of our local community in welcoming visitors with open arms as a defining characteristic of our region.

The weather is great.
There’s lots to do in the Canungra Valley – visit local wineries, waterfalls, bush walks, markets, boutique shops in the Canungra and Mt Tamborine areas and it’s only 45 minutes to the Worlds – Movieworld– Dreamworld– Seaworld– Wet and Wild – Paradise Country and the Outback Spectacular.
There’s plenty of places to eat out – Canungra Hotel, Beaded Dragon, Albert River Winery, Songbirds, and many more. Eating out at Mt Tamborine.
So – consider a visit to our farmstay – relax on the deck, watch the horses at play, swim in the pool, read a good book and spend time with your friends.
Look at the green grass in the paddock – we haven’t seen such green grass for nearly 12 months, and now the summer rain has finally arrived – weather forecasters are predicting bucket loads of rain over the next week. It’s gumboots and rain coat time – and we’ll loving it!
Are you looking for something to do in March – add Tamborine Mountain Show onto your calendar
The Tamborine Mountain Show Grounds are the setting for The Tamborine Mountain Show.

In keeping with the Show tradition, there are fantastic Pavilion competitions – baking, jam making, arts, photography and garden related – join in the fun – visit the Tamborine Mountain Show – March 16th.

Best wishes from Steve and Jenny at Magpie Creek Farmstay
Bruce is on holidays with his mother and grandparents and yesterday he came to stay at Magpie Creek Farmstay. There’s lots of new and exciting things to see when you are only 8 years old. Bruce found some eggs that the chickens had laid in the feed shed, and we cooked them with Bacon and Mushrooms for Breakfast, he helped feed the horses and watched the race horses come off the truck this morning – returning from their training at Gold Coast Turf Club.
Bruce also had lots of fun feeding the birds on the deck, we planted some pumpkin seeds and hopefully we’ll have a pumpkin patch in a few months time and Bruce learnt how to play droughts.
Lots of good memories to take home to China. Thanks for visiting our farm.
