All we want for Christmas is rain
There’s baby Willy Wag Tails in the nest
A Willy Wag Tail decided to make a nest on our Santa lights, so Steve made a cover to make sure the Magpies didn’t steal the eggs, now we have two little Willy Wag Tails hatched in the next and a mother who hoovers over them all day making sure everything is fine, and bringing them food.
5 days of rain and now some sunshine
We’ve loved the rain – it’s been dry and dusty all winter. Even the spring rain didn’t come September, now we’ve had October’s expected rainfall in one week. We can see the grass and the weeds growing instantly, and the horses love it. They are ready to play.
We’ve called her Charlotte
The foal is now 17 days old and we’ve called her Charlotte. Thanks Tom for suggesting the name.
Today she is enjoying her first experience with rain.
What’s new at the farm
Today, Eleanor met Flash, she wasn’t that impressed at first, but is getting used to the horses.
Gizmo is now 3 months old and settling into life at Magpie Creek Farmstay, Eddie isn’t sure if he wants to play with him yet, but I’m sure they will be great friends soon.
Birds in flight
Every day we wake up to a wonderful variety of birds. The birds love to eat the grain that we feed to the horses. Sometimes, we will find the birds sitting in the horse’s feed bowl eating the grain along with the horse. These photos were taken by Chris Hankanson November 2015 @ Magpie Creek Farmstay.

There’s lots to do when you come for a farmstay visit. Go hiking at Springbrook, watch the horses train, or just play fiddle sticks.

The kids loved watching the horses, playing in the pool, feeding the chooks and dancing on the lawns.
The clawfoot baths were a treat for us all. Plenty of room for cups of tea or BBBQs on the large deck.

Welcome Ryota, Ryusaku, Yosuke & Daichi
We’ve enjoyed a lovely visit to the farm from Ryota, Ryusaku, Yosuke and Daichi – who are currently attending second year at JOSHO KEIKO High School Osaka Japan.
The boys didn’t like Vegimite- but they did like our BBQ. Staying at the farm was a new life experience, they helped do the washing up and learnt how to hang the washing on the clothes line. There was lots of spare time to go for bush walks, watch the stars and constellations – and even find the Southern Cross in the night sky. Travis had lots of fun playing games with our friends from Osaka.
